About Money Engine

Built around practical business problems — not technology for its own sake.

Money Engine combines opportunity discovery, process thinking, AI and automation to improve worthwhile parts of a business or operation. The principle is simple: understand the problem first, then decide what technology — if any — deserves to be there.

The idea

Useful before clever.

Money Engine is not built around selling a generic AI platform and asking the customer to invent a use case.

The starting point is the process: what happens today, where something gets missed, where effort is repeated and whether improving it would actually matter.

That can lead to a Money Engine product, a tailored workflow, an integration, AI-assisted automation — or a decision that automation is not justified.

Founder

Gary Bacon

Gary's background spans IT and telecommunications, business ownership, project management and consultancy in complex infrastructure environments.

He started his career in IT and telecommunications before building and running a structured-cabling business with a team of around 20 people. That meant dealing directly with the realities of sales, delivery, people, customers, operations and the small process failures that cost a growing business time and money.

He later moved into project management and consultancy within complex infrastructure environments, where the scale changes but many of the underlying challenges remain familiar: handoffs, information flow, ownership, controls, systems, dependencies and the need to improve processes without disrupting what already works.

Money Engine brings those two perspectives together — the pace and commercial reality of smaller businesses with the structured thinking needed in larger operational environments.

The Only

The product-building umbrella behind Money Engine.

The Only is an independent product-building brand focused on identifying practical problems, designing focused solutions, testing them against reality and developing the ideas that prove commercially useful.

Money Engine is one expression of that approach: continuously looking for places where a better process, a useful product or a targeted piece of automation can create measurable value.

What we believe

A few principles shape every engagement.

01

Start with reality

Public signals are useful, but the people doing the work understand the real process.

02

Keep claims disciplined

Potential value is not the same as realised value, and assisted value is not the same as sole causation.

03

Protect what works

Improvement should strengthen useful systems and processes rather than replace them for novelty.

04

Earn the right to scale

Start with the smallest useful intervention and expand only when evidence justifies it.

Who we work with

The approach changes with the environment.

SME

Fast validation and practical proof.

For owner-led and growing businesses, the route can be intentionally lightweight: identify one high-value gap, test the smallest useful fix and measure what changes.

Enterprise

Structured validation before implementation.

For larger organisations, the route includes process ownership, systems, security, integration, stakeholders and procurement before any proof of value is scoped.

Talk to us

Have a process that feels harder than it should be?

Tell us what is happening today. We will focus on the business problem before talking about the technology.

Building for what comes next

One engine.
A growing set of improvements.

Money Engine is built to identify real business friction, validate it with the people who know the process, and develop practical tools that can be reused and improved over time.

New capabilities are tested and reviewed before they are offered. Existing ready products continue to operate under their established approval and compliance controls.
